Why cant they wait til effective date the Amendment starts.
This would give employees time for their family their children to find ways to pay higher insurance and there children's medication and make ends meet.
The County can extend same sex benefits if they want. This may be a test of that opinion but in my opinion the amendment has no bearing on this.

unfortunately, all legal experts agree that government entities (as wings of the state) cannot recognize any union other than marriage between a man and a woman. But it doesn't take effect until Jan. 1, so I don't understand Billy's rush.

I don't think anything is going to change benefit wise though it will probably end up on the agenda of the local governing boards so we'll get to hear from those attorneys and maybe a vote.
Here we thought North Carolina was a "progressive" state who "elected" Obama by some 14,000 votes. To me it still seems like a Conservative Southern state.
