Visiting Charlotte, North Carolina in early Sept.- would appreciate any inside info from locals on good places to eat, sights to see in the area & places to avoid...lol--only going to be there for a few days. Also, what is the weather like? We are from Southern California & would like to be prepared with appropriate clothing. Thanks.

Some questions to help give better response, are you house shopping, being a tourist, traveling with kids, age bracket, looking for night life and will you have a car rental?
What kind of entertainment your looking for?

The weather in September will be like it is right now in LA. Short sleeve during the day and possible light jacket during the evening.

This is a good thread with local lunch-dinner options around or near the city.
