Definitely enough time. I spent about an hour watching a tv that was all about the plane that landed in the water in NYC, and I still don't think I spent much more than 2 hours there.
That's about how long I was there when I went to see the WWII planes that flew in for a weekend early this year (last year?). I talked with Bobby Allison who is also an aviation buff and was there for the show, and he said he was part of a group that was trying to get some more planes donated.
It's pretty amazing to see the plane that landed on the Hudson.
Great place. I have been a supporter for years and just love to hang out and hear all the stories from Old timers. My Pap is 87 and I take him there everytime he is here and I just sit back and listen. Amazing stories.
Suggest you strike up a conversation with one of the WW2/Korean War veteran volunteers, they will provide you with some great stories and details on the display pieces. We did that and were rewarded with access to the interior of some planes and helicopters that were not open for viewing.
3 hours sounds about right if you are a true aviation buff. Enjoy.
Thank you all for the responses! We went on Saturday and we had a great time! We really enjoyed the visit. It was amazing to see the plane that landed in the Hudson River and reading up on all the facts. I was expecting the museum to be a little bigger, but I guess the Hudson River place takes up most of the space there. Either way, we had a great time.
We also did check out the overlook park - it was amazing!
A friend went Saturday as well. She said she spoke with a couple survivors of the Hudson landing.
