Sounds like a good trade to me. I've lived within 10 minutes of that site for about five years now and have never bothered to go to Plaza Fiesta. I suspect it won't be long after opening that I find a reason to go to Cabela's.
Cabela's is opening the same year as the new 300' tall coaster at Carowinds. I can't wait to do both! Get ready for some crazy traffic though (at least during the Carowinds season).
Last time I was there it was pretty dead, but I'd been to Plaza Fiesta a couple times on the weekend and it had a big crowd. To be honest, I never had a reason to shop there, but it was my favorite area mall; it was just so unique and kind of outlandish. Shame they're tearing it down.
I love Cabela's, but I hate to see Hamricks go and the food court at that mall go. I don't shop at Hamricks myself, but it's a haven for older folks. Hopefully they will indeed relocate as they say they will. The one in Matthews flat out closed years ago and I'm afraid the same thing will happen to this one. And the food court was a nice place to grab and go some reasonable food when visiting Carowinds. I know there is supposed to be space for restaurants on the property, but not like a food court.
Never heard of Cabelas. But great, just what we need: another chain sporting goods store.
Greeeaaat, now we'll have guns, fireworks and liquor right there. It's like a one stop shopping area! Classy.
