Basil is good and I love the space but it's really, really expensive. Thai food should NOT be expensive.

Next time try Basil uptown.
Stuff happens. As I told my dinner companion, before I came back to Dee Jai, I will try several other places that have been recommended.

I've heard that as well, and agree. Getting very fresh seafood can raise the price, but most of the ingredients are inexpensive.

Distance would not have made a difference. Seeing you was always worth the drive. I can't believe you are gone. I miss you so much. I can't believe I will never hear that laugh, see that smile or get one of those hugs again. Peaceful rest my sweet friend. Love, B

I say go to Gary's BBQ in China Grove. You don't need a Thai to get in!

I went to Viet Thai noodle house today off of 51 and McMullen Creek Parkway in Pineville. It was delicious. The waitstaff was also very informative and guided my husband to a dish that he loved.

And did I miss something with vmaxnc?

The post that was made by ebd05 would leave one to believe that he must have passed on recently. His last post shows towards the end of May.

I don't find Basil to authentic, well maybe that's b/c I'm Asian. Basil is too Americanized. People in Charlotte should realized that there are a few kinds of Thai restaurants. Authentic Thai where the cooks, and staff are Thais, then there are Chinese owned Thai restaurants, the owners and staff may or may not be Thai-Chinese. I find the Americanized Thai restaurants, the owners are often some kind of Chinese.
