More local focused food and retail
More of an arts scene
More of keeping and renovating old buildings versus just tearing them down and building new
Larger Highways to support our infrastructure
More people wearing t shirts and flip flops, less people wearing golf shirts and dress shoes with no socks
I'd love to see more dim-sum restaurants, and more non-chain mexican restaurants.
I'd like to see walking promanades added to the big shopping areas, such as Blakney and Stone Crest so one can walk across the area without walking through the parking lot.
If we are going for chains, I'd love to see a Chevy's out here. As for retail stores, I'd love to see an Athleta.
Sometimes I feel like I live in an alternative Charlotte
- There are lots of places in the ring of neighborhoods right around downtown that are locally owned and have outdoor dining
- Almost every ethnic group in Charlotte has some sort of fest - the Caribean folks, the japanese, puerto ricans, bosnians. However, I would agree that they all aren't outdoors and they don't always advertise widely.
- There is a movie theater uptown and several other live theater options as well.
- I use the greenways a lot - in fact I did so yesterday. In fact you can eat outdoors (several options to chose from) at Metropolitan and walk all the way to Park Road shopping center through Freedom Park. There is a master plan for greenways and ways citizens can be involved.
- There are several places where you can paint while drinking wine, make a mosaic, take a pottery class. The "drop by" places seem to be doing the best actually.
Since there is limited lighting on the interstates in some areas in and around Charlotte, it would be nice to see glow-in-the-dark road markings like in the Netherlands!! That would really give Clt a different identity from any city in the country.
Could you please provide more details around that so that more people can avail of these opportunities.
Thanks in advance
