im a 37 year old male, who's moving to charlotte in a couple weeks. I'm currently in buffalo, ny.I will start out homeless.I work as a restaurant server when I do get a job. I have been in saint vincents in las vegas, and the buffalo city mission as well. So im used to those.and they turned out to be mostly a positive thing. Im doing all my research now, not currently homeless but in a toxic life under this roof. And the bitter winter was enough for me. if somebody could help me get going in the right direction, I would relax a little. the mens shelter of charlotte looks like they are progressive. I'm prolley been homeless a year in my whole life. But im always a client of a work program, ex.saint vincents, or at a shelter where I could hurry up and get a restaurant serving job. Looking at this as a chance for a new beginning and to finally relax in a cozy city.any suggestions please....thanx so much.
Thanx man, they gotta lot of services it seems.im writing all these down so that when I get there from the greyhound, im not walking around in circles.thanx

Greyhound terminal will drop you off right downtown. Its pretty crappy as far as greyhound terminals go, but not the worst I've ever seen. I think you will like Charlotte, I know people who have grown to be successful people living and working in Charlotte after arriving here without a home. One of my closest friends was instrumental in starting this magazine. Speak Up Magazine Which is a magazine that has many articles contributed to, and distributed by formerly or currently homeless people. I wish I lived in the Southeast still I could have probably found you a "Couch to Surf."

Try to get a job man...Luckily, Charlotte looks better and growing than Upstate NY.
Why not choose a state that has expanded Medicaid under the ACA? Unless you can secure employment that pays from 1 to 4 times poverty level, you are likely to be uninsured in North Carolina.
ya there seems to b a lot of shelters in around charlotte. with many good services. I wish I knew how close the greyhound was from the shelters? And does anyone know of a place where you can sleep in a shelter, and look for a job during the day? I have a good resume and have ten years experience in food and beverage. I mean I live in a house now in south buffalo, I fight with my girlfriend every other day. she really doesn't want me to go, but I know in the long run, I will have to pull the Band-Aid off eventually. And I hate buffalo, this winter sealed it for me.Lots of great ideas so far from everyone, and I have about two weeks to at least formulate a plan.I wish I could talk to a place or no a place that I could go right off the bus. Im trying to make this smooth and a positive experience.Anymore suggestions are researched and I look into.thanx rickydavisfan21 with your suggestions. I emailed the non-profit restaurant and told them my story.thankyou everyone.
