I ask because every morning after coming off of I-85 South at exit 38 I sit in backed up traffic as the whole of the "unoffical NASCAR team" race by in SINGLE occupant vehicles. There's really no room on the sides for cops to sit and watch, so I was wondering if maybe all of those traffic cams are high quality and can zoom into your car and see how many people are inside. And then maybe you get a ticket later on (kinda like when Charlotte had the red light cams where you would get your nice little surprise in the mailbox after the fact), LOL. It kinda sucks being the "good guy" everyday and seeing others zoom by.
Yeah, I'm there with you. Probably the car behind you. Self-entitled jerkwads, whose time is far more valuable than us. Kind of like the folks who don't realize that it's illegal to cross a solid white line, yet do so anyway, prohibiting the tractor-trailers from moving over after the merge.
I've been through other cities with carpool lanes that are only enforced (per signage) certain hours, M-F. Given how Charlotte's interstates are already inadequate for the number of cars traveling them, you'd think they would allow all lanes to be used during off hours and weekends. I so often travel down I-77 and see hardly any cars in those HOV lanes. Charlotte has a majority of single-person-drivers.
NC doesn't monitor any type of moving violations via camera that I know of. Personally, I'm glad they don't. Those folks are just rolling the dice, and they will likely get away with it far more times than they are ever caught.
It's the same kind of people who drive down the center turn lane on Monroe Road between the Galleria and NC 51 at rush hour. They're rolling the dice and in that area Matthews police are a bit more dilligent than State Highway Patrol. But you never see anyone get pulled over.

They do monitor (at least) red light violations, in Raleigh, by camera. Noticed the signs when we were up there a few weeks ago.
