This is an extention of a previous thread.......thanks to all for the rural area advise...now as hubby and I are talking more and more we could also be easily talked into living in an area of older historic homes, small town charm, main street usa with lots of trees and big front lawns. Does this change things up for areas we should look? Great schools are still a must (public or private) and keeping the communte into Charlotte under 45 minutes in rush hour. Ideas? Thanks!

It will be tough to get the small town charm, main street usa thing within 45 minutes at rush hour with all the other things you listed. I would advise you to consider looking in Charlotte close to uptown in the Elizabeth neighborhood and the Dilworth neighborhood though. These two neighborhoods have the kinds of homes you describe above for sure - just beautiful. And, the commute to work would be very quick for your hubby I personally think Charlotte has some of the best private schools in the state so if the public schools for those neigborhoods didn't measure up you would have the private option.

You can try EastOver its east of Providence road. Eastover elementary is highly regarded.
