My husband and I are visiting next week, selling the area to ourselves. I am planning our activities and could use some confirmations/recs - any help would be appreciated!

(1) Shopping, we love shopping. We are going to go to Birkdale Village definitely. Are there any other indoor/outdoor malls that are good in/around Charlotte?

(2) I read that Myers Park is the “prestigious” part of Charlotte with Southern style estates. Yes/No? We wanted to see the Duke Mansion. Are there other areas in/around Charlotte that are must sees?

(3) I read that Dilsworth and South Park are the hoppin’ part of town for young people. Yes/No? Are there any others?

And lastly, if anybody has any must-go local hot-spots for young adults (restaurants, casual bars, just fun areas to walk around, etc) we would love to hear about them. Thanks in advance!

1- South Park mall has good shopping. There are also boutique-style shopping surrounding SP, like Phillips Place.

3- Plaza-Midwood and NoDa are other 'hoods to check out. Both offer eclectic shops, restaurants, bars

Haven't been to the Epicenter downtown, but I hear it's worth checking out. Grab our alt. weekly, Creative Loafing, for things to see/do while you're here.

Ballantyne Village just south of Charlotte has some neat boutique shops, and a great theater. Under the Grape is a good wine bar/wine shop. They often do free tastings, and it's owned by a lovely couple, Henry & Barb.

Default I love blakeney

on Friday and Sat. nights for a few drinks and live music. Also my next favorite would be Southpark for food and shopping. Upstream was very good if you like seafood.
