We are moving in January to the Northlake area and I'm wondering about schools. We have two school age boys, 2nd and 5th grades. My oldest is autistic and currently in a self-contained classroom. Does anyone have children in Exceptional Children's program? In our current district he was "placed" at the school that could provide services for him. Any pointers on best schools? I'm ok with a drive too! I want to make this move and transition as easy as possible on him.
Trying to figure out the best neighborhoods for schools/kids but close to Northlake/Harris Blvd where my husband will be working.

Thanks in advance!

Selwyn has a self contained classroom for autism. I suggest calling them. It's in southpark though. And there is an expensive private option called cyzner.

I should also mention the autism services provided in charlotte public schools are not very good in general compared to some states that have in class autism therapy allowing mainstreaming to be more possible. Here they only do pull outs from what I understand where kids of different ages and grades can/will be grouped together.

Torrence Creek elementary school was fabulous when my son was in elementary. He had learning disabilities and TCE was great. I know that the elementary by northlake in Huntersville is now a Montessori school - you may want to try that too
