Hi everyone! So I currently live in NJ and have lived here my whole life. i have been thinking of what I want to do when I graduate college and where I want to relocate too. And so far I love Charlotte NC. I obviously would not move anywhere without a job lined up. So I was wondering if anyone has any insight about job opportunities for paralegals? Then also just any general information of moving to and living in NC. Cost of living? I know apartments seem rather cheap but how about utilities and car insurance? And is everything else besides housing really that much more expensive bc housing is lower?
As you have noticed, housing is much less expensive than in NJ. Overall, taxes will be lower in NC. I suspect insurance will be lower as well. Other than that, there probably isn't a huge different for utilities, food, entertainment, etc.
There are probably about 8,000 threads in this forum from people who've moved from NJ, if you do a little searching. But everyone has different specific needs, and you don't go into yours in much detail. Why, for example, are you interested in NC/Charlotte vs other places that are "not NJ"?
Well for starters, when looking online into the best places for paralegals NC was in the top ten, so that's my main concern is where the best places for paralegals are that have reasonable cost of living and high quality of life. I want to also stay on the east coast, and then the weather is also a major plus.
If you're interested in Charlotte this thread would be better off in the Charlotte forum. Have you visited? That should be a top priority, but fresh out of college, not obligations, just starting out — go for it!
No idea about the job market for paralegals but utilities and car insurance should be lower. The main things that will be more expensive IMO are groceries, sales tax (which is on clothes as well unlike NJ) and I believe gas, although i do prefer pumping it myself. There are a on of people from NJ in Charlotte, probably more from North Jersey that I've seen.

Watch from 2:43 to 3:12 and tell me if this is the type of society you wish to live here in NC. Look at the look of death from the woman at 3:12. They could not give a care in the world, and it's not an isolated incident.
