In your price range you will find some nice homes much closer to South Park.
Thanks! Are there specific communities in or near South Park that you suggest I look at?

The problem is, you mentioned above only wanting to look at new construction - there is very little of it anywhere near South Park (other than condo's). Try to understand, this is an established area of town (part of what makes it so attractive). There are homes in your price range, not a lot, but some beautiful ones, but they would all be at least 20 years old. Are you willing to consider these kinds of neighborhoods?

If you are looking for Southpark area (which I suggest you should), you need to check out Huntintowne Farms area. Its still very cheap compared the rest of Southpark and have one of the best Elementry Schools right there that most people walk to.
Huntingtowne Farms Elementary :

What about Gaston Co? Specifically Stanley or Mt Holly? Is that still too far?
Still quite a commute. Traffic is horrible on 85 & 77 in the morning. Some nice area in Matthews and Mint Hill that are not too bad a commute. You would basically be doing a reverse commute. I am froim NY so No commute here is bad LOL

In your price range you would have many options

Off the top of my head I'd suggest Stone Creek Ranch.

Take a ride down Sharonview Road just minutes from Southpark. There are lots of great neighborhhoods, both old and some small new infill developments. It will be a little more pricey than Huntingtowne Farms though. Everything in HF is probably under $300k.

There seem to be a lot of new houses going up on Carmel Rd down near Quail Hollow.
They might be worth checking out too.
