Trying to decide where to buy land (we are relocating). Just wondering why no one ever mentions China Grove when asked about places to relocate to? Just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

It's pretty far out. It would depend on where you work. I don't really have much experience with it except for buying something off of Craigslist. My thoughts were, "OMG, the distance, they shouldn't even be allowed to post on the Charlotte page!" Gary's Barbecue was recommended by two friends when I said I was making the trek, though.

China Grove has easy access to I-85 and has Rt 29. Takes about 45 Min. to uptown. As I-85 and I-485 work completes the drive time will come down by about 5 minutes. Nice area stay outside city limits to avoid extra tax. Nice Golf course (Warrior), not to far from Salisbury or Concord. Can send kids to South Rowan HS or Carson HS

Looking at the map it doesn't look like the commute would be much worse than Mooresville. Might be even shorter since I-85 is 4 lanes most of the way while 77 is congested past 485.

From Mooresville there are CATS Express busses. There's an express bus from Concord.

China Grove is definately "out there" but I have heard of people commuting to Charlotte from as far away as Hickory. You just have to balance out how much of a commute you can tolerate to buy acreage.

Hubby will be working in Davidson. Seems like it wouldn't be too far of a drive. Thanks!

I have lived in China Grove. It's just a small rural area. Schools are decent. I would stay more on the Mooresville -China Grove side. I would also stay in the county,no need to tack on city taxes when you don't really get anything in return. A commute to Davidson would be simple, also easy access to 85. No shopping in China Grove, other than grocery store and drug store. It's just a nice little out of the hustle-bustle town.

Just don't go crazy with building a huge custom home or putting a bunch of $$ into a house. Just don't see the area appreciating much.

If you work Uptown in Charlotte they have a van pool to Charlotte. Its a sleepy little place that is out of the hustle and bustle and if you work/live in the Davidson/Mooresville area its a cheaper option.
