In the market to buy a house (~$400-600k range) and my initial thought after studying/investigating the relatively close to uptown areas is you simply can't beat Cotswold for what you get for the price in a proximity close to uptown, good schools, walking neighborhood, large lots, houses with character, quality neighbors and amenities, etc. It is simply hard for me to believe the Cotswold area won't continue to strongly appreciate given all of the above factors (especially since neighborhoods close to uptown will be even more valuable as the Charlotte population continues to grow)...

However, I'm still nervous since this house will be a significant jump in value for us...can anyone reinforce the above to add to my confidence before I make the plunge?

In my opinion, Cotswold has done nothing but appreciate over decades now and I see no reason why it will not continue to be a great investment. Additionally, it is just a nice place to live - and very convenient to uptown

Cotswold is very unique. I have several longtime friends who have decided to purchase over the last few years in the Cotswold area. For many of the reasons that you mention in your post. My father has worked at the mall in a jewelry boutique for 15 years and absolutely loves the area.

If you have been exploring the area a good amount I'm sure you have found that many of the neighborhoods connect to each other.

Thanks. Yes, it certainly seems to offer great value when you compare to the adjacent neighborhoods (i.e., Eastover and close to Myers Park/Dilworth). Actually seems to offer more upside given how high the home prices are in those areas.

Your replies keep affirming the same things I hear from other people -- good neighbors, good neighborly-lifestyle close to uptown.

Cotswold is a strong neighborhood as far as values. In Charlotte we have a thing called conservative appreciation. I like the rate of appreciation, it keeps market crashes to a minimum. Any time you have strong appreciation, eventually you will have even stronger depreciation.

Which do you prefer?
