Hi everyone! One day I was on monster.com, browsing for jobs for my husband, and the next thing I know he gets a job in NC and we're moving in ONE WEEK! We currently live in Arizona, by way of San Diego (and before that, Michigan).
We are being provided with temp housing in Gastonia til we find a house.
My husband will be working in West Gastonia, but we'd like to live in Charlotte. I've heard that Charlotte is much more fun than Gastonia.
We have four kids (please don't throw things) and 3 dogs. We'd like an area with good schools and parks. Obviously, not too horribly far from Gastonia.

We can pay about 250K. Any thoughts? Thanks!
Southwest Charlotte might work well for you. I'd go online and look at homes in area 7 (SW).
Nothing's wrong with Gastonia that I know of -- just heard through hearsay that Charlotte has more things to do for a family with young kids. Also, the Charlotte/Mecklenburg library has many activities for families and we'd like to live inside the county so we can take advantage of that.
Well from Huntersville once you get past to the part of 77S that goes to four lanes it is not to bad actually. the 485 schedule seems to change weekly. I would not go to further than exit 25 if you start looking in the Huntersville Area. Also depending which neighborhood you buy, should you buy in Huntersville, you may not even need to get on 77 to get to 85.
If you are considering Gastonia, you should consider Lake Wylie area or Steele Creek it is not far from Gastonia and close to 485 and I-77. In SC you would be able to take advantage of SC taxes which are lower than Charlotte. If Steele Creek there is a library and parks available. Also, you can travel to Kings Mountain State Park or Crowders Mountain for hiking not far.
