For those who are familiar with Park Crossing and Raintree, which would you choose to live in if those were your options and why? Raintree would be a brick home on a flat golf lot and Park Crossing would be a much larger, stately brick home in the newer part of PC. We are a family of 4 with 1 school aged child and a baby. I will share more details once I get some of your opinions and feedback.

I like golf and the course(s) offer a good mid market value that should continue to hold stable value over time, so I would choose Raintree.

That said, I don't have 2 kids and can't speak for how valuable extra square footage would be. Location wise I would be interested to understand the impact on commute from both areas.

Would your children/spouse enjoy the amenities of the golf course/Raintree club? What are the surrounding homes like? There is a large variance in price/sq foot in Raintree so you would want to make sure you are buying in an area more likely to maintain/grow. Are there opportunities to renovate that property?

Both are beautiful neighborhoods, but I would be more tempted by Raintree since the schools are better regarded. Though I do like South Meck high school, I prefer the elementary and middle schools for Raintree. For middle, Raintree has either South Charlotte or JM Robinson - the latter is one of the best middle schools in the city. Though they are not very diverse if that is important to you.

Providence HS is much better than South Meck.

I love the style of homes in some of Raintree, but I like Park Crossing as a neighborhood better. There are no homes on the main road through the neighborhood, so you don't get the stretch of houses that nobody wants to buy. The sidewalks and rec club are situated so that I would feel good about letting my kids walk or ride there from anywhere in the neighborhood (same goes for friend's houses). They could also walk/ride to the MS/HS.
