It depends on what you are looking for, your age, and other criteria. Drive by or look for what shopping areas you have, what price range houses, income range in both areas
I don't know your budget, but I would pick SouthPark. More to do, more compact, closer to uptown, more shops, more walkable, and better parks. SouthPark feels like a town within itself. Ballantyne feels more like a sprawling series of subdivisions, which is what it is. The only downside to SouthPark is that you don't have easy access to any major freeways. But you're also only a couple of miles away from the light rail, so that's another plus.
Southpark is not super rich. It's not NY, London, LA, or SF. You don't see Rolls Royces and Ferraris.
Nowhere in Charlotte is like that.
Haha.. someone sounds touchy. For the record I have seen a Rolls Royce or maybe it was a Bentley and a few Ferraris around Charlotte. There is a lot of money in Charlotte, especially around Southpark.
