I suggest you use the Charlotte sub-forum and provide more information on your budget, work location and other preferences like distance from downtown. Here's one example from the western suburbs, Davidson, Cornelius, Mooresville, etc : https://www.city-data.com/forum/charl...er-oregon.html

I'm not familiar at all with the area. I'm considering relocating there but trying to do some research first. I am interested in renting instead of purchasing a home. I am a single mom of 2 ages 11 & 12 so some where with good schools , recreation etc?

Yes, but they aren't "in" Charlotte...they are suburbs, as you asked for. You should know that Charlotte itself is basically a giant suburb. It has a very small downtown are surrounded by suburban development. The towns I listed are outside of Charlotte. There are certainly nice areas in Charlotte as well.

I have no idea if you can rent (or buy) a house in any of them within your budget, or if they are anywhere near where you'll be working. Mooresville to Ft. Mill is almost 50 miles...an hour and half at rush hour...you don't want to commute that far. The Charlotte "area" is very large.
