From what I’ve gathered, the Mooresville to Charlotte morning commute is bad and lengthy, but what about the reverse? Living in north Charlotte suburbs and commuting to Mooresville to work? Easier traffic I’m imagining? Anyone do this commute? How long would this take?

the commute is long in either direction, my wife takes about 40 to 45 minutes using the back roads to get to her job in Mooresville.

I think it depends on where you would want to live. I live in western Cabarrus county and can take back roads to Mooresville. My neighbor goes up there quite a bit and she avoids traveling 77 up at all costs and it takes less time.

Lots of people do it. It’s not as bad as the other way, but still not really great. I don’t do the commute but I think coming back south during the PM rush hour in particular is consistently bad.

Also depends on where in North Charlotte and where in Mooresville. As mentioned, if it’s the downtown Mooresville area it is easier to avoid I-77.

Driving on I 77 is a crap shoot outside of rush hour which in both directions is a nightmare. The new Lexus lanes will not do much to alleviate the problem. Move to Mooresville, it is a nice town.

we are considering all options north charlotte, davidson, mooresville, troutman...
trying to balance my husband’s potential commute, good school district, natural grocery store, good restaurants, etc.
