If you were moving to Charlotte... (Concord, Cleveland: fit in, real estate market, home)

Obviously subjective. But my opinions.
The roads are confusing. The weather is humidors hot in the summer and nice in the winter. South Charlotte is the most desirable part of the city. Traffic on 77, 74, and 16 are frustrating much of the day. Uptown is not the poppin, active area like South End is. Just because it is a “transitioning” area doesn’t always mean it is unsafe or not a good place to live. It really doesn’t feel like a very big city. Some of the suburbs are extremely overrated and some are extremely underrated. The real estate market is expensive (compared to what I was expecting). Drivers are crazy here and they absolutely fly on the highway and I rarely see police enforcing speed limits. It’s a progressive city with a lot of friendly people.
Charlotte doesn't have much architecture remaining prior to the 1890s. Even the early 20th century areas are neighborhoods of modest size and near the city core. Most of the city formed in the post WWII era.

If you are going 45 in a 45 you are getting passed for sure. EVERYONE speeds here. 10 miles over is accepted.
The real estate market is "hellified" expensive. Charlotte is cool if you have money or a very high income to sustain the lifestyle. IMO, just not worth the $$.
Great posts.
Gives me a better insight to hear from the locals of how they see Charlotte.
Is traffic still a headache now during covid era or not as intense? Wondering if by many working from home this would have given more breathing room to the highways/freeways.
How would a local compare a place like Concord to Charlotte ? (. . aside from the size, for starters)

What are you looking for specifically? I live in Concord and have for the last 14 years.
Gosh, the traffic definitely depends on where you're coming from. It's nothing, zero like the gridlock in Chicago, for example. To us it's just regular city traffic. Also lived in Denver and yes, at times it's bad - it's the same here depending on time of day. It's a CITY.
Since Covid, traffic is down for sure.
A ton of our daughters' friends (from USC - the one in South Carolina, or as they say around here, "Carolina" and you have to ask which one, much to the chagrin of both North and South Carolina grads) moved here after college, and another NC State master's grad we know just moved here with a bunch of his college buddies, too. It's pretty happening for young folk and fine for those of us that are "older" too There's a ton to do, but other posters are correct that it doesn't have the historical feel of, say, a Boston, Philly, Pittsburgh or Cleveland. But it's great and we love it!

Are you originally from NC or moved from another state?
I have Concord in the radar and will be heading there within the next month once I finish tying up some ends over here in LA.
Networking with a few out there would be ace, too.
I wasn't really looking for anything too specific - just a general scope of what good places to look out for (markets/restaurants/gyms/'entertainment' spots, etc. )
What are some 'rough' parts (if any exist ?)
