Hi this could be an odd question, but does any one know from what part of Charlotte does it start raining/cold/fog first?
For example it always starts raining first in north charlotte and then going down south.

Thanks in advance

You're right it IS an odd question. Charlotte isn't large enough geographically that it is going to make any real difference.

That being said, most (not all) weather systems approach Charlotte from the west or northwest and will be moving towards the east or southeast.

General weather patterns move west to east, but in different seasons it can be very scattered. In the summer thunderstorms can pop up anywhere.

I noticed it starts at the City's higher altitudes then generally stops at ground level.

It's somewhat seasonal. Weather systems usually move from the northwest, west, or southwest.

Sometimes we get moist low pressure from the Gulf of Mexico (from the southwest) and occasionally tropical weather drifts in from the south. You can actually smell the ocean from Charlotte when we have a strong Atlantic flow.

It's probably easiest to say that weather rarely comes from the north, northeast, or east. This can happen, but not too often. When this occurs, it's called "cold air damming" against the mountains and results in very cool, cloudy days. (Or ice storms in winter.)
