With the influx of Northerners in Charlotte, are there any Italian markets and/or shops in the area?

The place you are talking about on Providence Rd shares a parking lot with Providence Sundries (which is a restaurant). The name is actually Pasta and Provisions and here is a link: Pasta&Provisions, Charlotte NC. I love this place and the pasta is made daily. It is not a huge place but it is a small gem. Enjoy!

I'm curious. What does one have to do with the other?

There are far more Italian-Americans in the North than in the South. When we come down here, people have trouble pronouncing our last names and we have trouble getting a good sfogliatelle.

oh wow, one has EVERYTHING to do with the other. MOST Italians live in NY. Most NYers are Italian! I'm currently in Kentucky (from NY, lived there my whole life up til now) and I definitely feel i am the only Italian around these parts.. usually outside of new york, nobody even knows what their nationality is exactly.. they will say eh part irish part dutch i don't know something else, they just don't really take much pride in it, but in New York it is huge.. and yes you definitely don't come across italian lastnames much at ALL outside of New York/long island.
