What do you consider "normal" for babysitter pay per hour? I am trying to figure out what to give for watching my 3 year old. Any suggestions would be great.
Depends on the person and their income and also the sitter age and skill set. My 15 year old daughter charges my neighbor $6 per hour to keep her 10 year old and she still complains that its too much. I won't let my daughter takes less than that.
Thanks. I am talking only like 3 hours at the most. Sitter age would be 15. I would say we are middle of the road in income. I can't envision doing it for less either. My wife said she got that 10 years ago as a high school student.
i work in childcare and lots of workers babysit. the going rate seems to be $10/hour. i guess high school students would get less...but i would have to know a high school student REALLY well before i left my child with them.
Do you pay more if you have two children?
Any opinions on what age it is ok to leave kids home alone for a couple of hours? Lets assume they were 10 and 12.5 and the 12 year old was very responsible. My neighbors say we don't need to get a sitter, but I'm thinking this is still a little young. My friends "back home" used to tease me about being old fashioned and I am deffinately an older parent. I would be inerested in hearing how others feel about the proper age for staying home alone.
Do you all tip the babysitter beyond the $ per hour rate? If so, how much?
i don't think you need to tip, but the family's i sit for generally round up. for example if they leave at 5 and get home at 10:45 they would give me $60 in stead of $57.50.
also, i don't charge more for 2 kids, but anymore than that and i might charge a couple bucks more.
