Totally agree. Of course, it is a bad situation for anyone who will get laid off, but it can happen to any of us (and I suspect - anyone who has worked 20 or more years - except maybe in medical - has been laid off/down-sized or fired at some point). Difficult situation . . . but to think even 10,000 jobs is going to paralyze this metro area . . . really - we have had so many furniture and textile manufacturing jobs lost already . . . we just have to rally and move forward.

Unless of course, the sky falls.

I think that some people tend to go into panic mood and look at the negative things going on around the world instead of the positive and focus on that too much - not that it should be ignored, but put it into perspective. And the media doesn't help with this either - watching the news or reading the paper can be down right depressing sometimes - all the bad stuff that is going on - the larger articles are frequently about something bad or negative. Unemployment is up, IndyMac was taking over by the FDIC, the mortgage industry fallout, increased foreclosures, etc. We get so bombarded by all this negativity and it can get difficult to sort it all out and focus on the solutions, what we do have and what we can do about all of this.

There is a lot of good going on around the world that often gets over looked, pushed aside and over shadowed by all of the "bad" - not to get side track - well I guess I already have - but it is to help illustrate the point - I think at least

I hear some people talk about how bad things are today in society - crime, violence - and how it is a sign of the decay of society. But it has been going on since the beginning of mankind. Remember the Roman Empire - all the excess, violence - Gladiators fighting to the death - for entertainment purposes - where it was a family event to go watch this sort of activity???? Not to mention other horrible things that have happened at the hands of mankind.

Not to take anything away from awful things that are happening today - it just really isn't new - unfortunately. Okay - I really did get side tracked - sorry.

I know you folks who just love a good train wreck can barely contain your delight at the prospect of any blood and gore - charming, really charming.

As stated, it won't be 10,000 jobs IN Charlotte - this is a national story. Even in the worse case scenario of 3000 to 5000 now being estimated as possible in Charlotte, this is not the end of the world. Guess you better get on Netflix and order out for the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" to get your blood thirst quenched, geez...

Wow I simply MUST find out your secrets to mathematics......

BTW, which subdivisions are involved? A list of 1,000 would be hard to post here, so if you can list the general areas, that would be great.
