I will be moving back to Charlotte from the United Kingdom (after 8 yrs here) - but not planning the move until March 2009 (after my bonus payout with current company). What is the job market like for IT consultants? I've experience in various roles.......... also if you want to complain about gas proces - try paying the equilvant of $10.50 per gallon!

Thanks

Wachovia is laying off IT people (contract). So I would expect . . . that would mean a glut of that type of talent on the market w/in the next few months. Perhaps by March, tho, things will be looking better.

And you think that even though gas is expensive, public transport is cheap?!!

Nope. I'm saying at least there is an alternative.

Check out Wesley Heights, new construction in a historic district and walking distance from town.

Obviously you don't know how much it costs to use public transportation in London.

But the whole thing is about the cost of gas and therefore it's costing you more to drive your car from A to B.
So you are saying that if there was public transport available to get you from A TO B you would use it-even if it cost more than the gas and took 2-3 times the length of time to get you there?

Thanks everyone - sorry about bringing up gas! I am getting a divorce from Brit husband - so hence the move back home - plus it's more cost effective in Charlotte than UK. I am in the IT trade with various skills sets from Testing, Sr BA, Project Management ; Architect to currently running a IT Dept for large company- so fingers crossed it will improve by March/April next year.

Cheers
