I am moving to charlotte soon. I live in dayton, ohio (called sinus valley instead of miami valley) and suffer terribly from enviromental allergies. Does anyone know if it will be easier on me in charlotte? Just curious.
Thanks.
Please do a check on the air quality of Charlotte, also how many "code orange days" they have.
I'm from Ohio, my allergies are worse here unfortunately. As an example if it's pollen? Pollen is way worse here. I would assume it would matter as to what kind of allergies. Believe it or not, my ragweed allergy is better here though
I'll be the one to offer a different experience here...
I'm allergic to nearly everything that can make you allergic. When they did the prick test on my back as a kid, I looked like a piece of bubble wrap within a minute! When we moved up here from Florida last June, I noticed a significant DECREASE in the amount of congestion and allergy experiences. They say it takes time to adjust to a new place, so we'll see what happens over the next few years...but for now, I'm loving being able to breathe without shooting a snot rocket every 10 minutes!!!
My cedar tree pollen allergy is TERRIBLE here! For the first time I needed the care of an allergist and frankly the medications didn't work (antihistamine, nasacort). Only time solved the problem. Way worse than Oklahoma City or Washington DC.
I am a native. Had terrible allergy problems all my life - til I moved to Kansas City. Enjoyed years of a respite. The moment I moved back here . . . daily meds. This area is a veritable allergy lab's delight - we have so many various plants/molds/fungi . . . Sorry to be negative but no, your allergies won't improve.
The only thing I am allergic to that is NOT here is tumbleweed, Hee Hee.
Mine have been the opposite. They are worse in KC - every time I visit, the get better, then get worse again when I return. Must be what I am allergic too Neither area is good for allergy sufferers though.
Well, you really don't know. We lived in New England our entire life and my husband had the WORST allergies...I guess to a different type of grass pollen because since we have lived in CLT he does not suffer at all!
However, my son has such a tough season here and suffers it seems from June-November. :-( He is on Zyrtec & Rhinocort.

I lived in Boston also and had bad allergies in the spring for about 4-5 weeks. I found that it was about the same here...
There are many nice attractions about our fine city, however this is not the best place if you have allergies. My father had to move away to the west coast to escape his allergies here. I myself have severe issues in the spring. I suppose it all is relative to what exactly you are allergic to.

What months are your allergies a major problem? If they're most of the year, then you'll probably have similar problems in Charlotte.
