Hi All - I will soon be relocating to Charlotte from upstate NY. I was hoping someone could possibly assist me in my search for an apartment. I am looking to spend no more than $750 P/ month for a one bedroom. The criteria I am looking for are as follows: Safe, short commute to uptown, other young professionals living in the area. I have heard some good things about Southpark, Myers Park, Uptown and Dilworth. Anbody have any recommendations?

This is a common question. Its usually answered as follows: if you can afford it, live uptown. For the more funky crowd, try Plaza Middwood or NODA (the Arts District). Dilworth is nice, but maybe more slanted to the young family crowd now. Southend is a fairly progressive area with plenty of youngins and lots to do.

Myers Park is beautiful, but you won't find many apartments, or any for $750. South Park is South Park. Very nice, relatively safe, not my style, but plenty of others would disagree. It is a little removed from uptown, so commuting can be a hassle sometimes.

You aren't going to find anything in Uptown or Myers Park for that amount. It's going to be tough in Dilworth as well. Southpark isn't as close but might be able to find some areas. You can be within 30 minutes of uptown in my most areas in Meck County. I would also check out W.T. Harris (not far from the University), but stay West of 85 and on or North of Harris. Quite a few young profressionals there. I like being closer to 77, where lots of new stuff is opening.
