I've read about what you're going through and that's far from uncommon. It's something akin to survivor's guilt and a lot of people go through it. I think it covers a wide range from disaster survivors to combat survivors to people who survived mass layoffs. It's that whole thing of, "why them and not me too". If anything it speaks volumes that you have as big of a heart that you do. BUT, since you did survive that job cut the best you can do is go in chin up, do your absolute best, don't hold what happened against anybody and keep collecting your pay. Don't feel overwhelmed, don't feel angry, don't feel upset, only worry about what YOU yourself can control and nothing more. If you spend one ounce of energy worrying about what you can't control, you've spend one ounce too much. Chin up, do your best, collect your pay, repeat.
I have only been half-listening to 24 . . . guess I better sign off and go snuggle w/ DH and watch the rest of 24, LOL. Ya'll have a good evening!
