What the scoop on the restaurant Pietown? Are the pizzas worth the cost!

I was not excited looking at their menu. Their other places are OK but I think they are overpriced.

It used to be town and it was over rpiced but had a decent Kobe Burger. Their pizzas are wierd.. Egg pizza? I would prefer Donatos, around the corner for pizza or sandwhich. Not impressed.

Peter Reinhart a well-established chef, who is the creator of pies at this establishment. He is the author of American Pie: My Search For the Perfect Pizza. His last cookbook won him the best cookbook of the year by the James Beard Foundation. Peter has been mixing his magic of dough for years at Johnson & Wales. His prices are set based on his experiences, location, equipment amongst other things. If you have a great palate or open to new experience--give Pie Town a try.

I love trying different things and will probably pop in there someday but I am not thrilled about their choice of oven. Fine, he can bake a pie in 3 minutes but I like the way the crust tastes out of an old brick or wood fired oven better than a gas one. He uses the same oven as CPK and their crust is good, not great.

A lot of pizza folks feel the same way. Peter Reinhart opens Pie Town in Charlotte.

I'm a big fan of offbeat pizza (LOVE the baked potato pizza from Pieworks) so I'll have to try to get down there.
