I don't really care for her music but I wouldn't say she's a complete flop.

Given the poor climate for record sales, and the lackluster sales of many Idol releases, Fantasia's albums have done fairly well. Her debut, Free Yourself, sold almost 2 million copies, and the follow-up, 2006's Fantasia, went gold and garnered three Grammy nominations. She also starred in her own Lifetime TV biopic, authored a book about her rags-to-riches story, and received top billing in the Broadway production of The Color Purple.
Source I just read that her duet w/ Jennifer Hudson (which I have never heard of) is nominated for a 2009 Grammy.
I'm guessing she has someone else managing her funds and wasn't even aware? I think she's doing okay for herself, especially in "The Color Purple". JMHO.

You've never heard of Jennifer Hudson? Her family was just killed in Chicago by her brother in law. She sings, but is also an actress, she was in the Sex and the City movie. And I believe she won an award for broadway.

That makes me obligated to have not heard of Jennifer Hudson.
Thats what happens when you really aren't that good of a singer and don't make it..LOL
You don't have to like her style of music, but the girl can most definitely sing.
Even Rolling Stone called her something like an "R&B gem". In 2007 she got 3 Grammy Award nominations: Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “When I See You”, Best Contemporary R&B Album for Fantasia, and Best R&B Song for "When I See You".
And she is getting rave reviews for her performance in "The Color Purple" on Broadway. Give her a break folks, she's only 24.
