Snakes are everywhere wherever you go. I hear there are Snakes on a Plane as well, or atleast Sam Jackson stated such.

In all seriousness, you are being an alarmist, even paranoia?

I don't like snakes either, but am not that worried about them. I heard having a dog helps keep snakes off your property as snakes generally don't like to be messed with so they look for quiet places. Hope that helps.

Yes, you probably ARE over-reacting. If it will help to ease your mind, read this link that includes some pictures to help you identify them. The only snake I have ever worried about is the "copperhead." Although we were always warned to stay clear of them because they were poison, I can honestly say that in all my 50-years of living here (and growing up on a farm), I can't name a single person that I know of who has been biten by one. I just avoid places that are known habitats and try to stay out of their way. I have seen many black snakes, which I have been told are good to have around because they keep mice away. I actually came home once to find that my outside CAT had a black snake cornered. I guess snakes don't like CATS! So I'm pretty sure they would be just as afraid of you as you would be of them - LOL! Seriously, don't worry.

We are also moving to Monroe and I have been down here for several weeks monitoring the building process. We are on a heavily wooded lot and I actually walked all over looking for snakes (wearing boots of course) because I had heard the same thing. I didn't see a single snake or anything else scary so I wouldn't worry. I think they are more afraid of us than we are of them.

I am fine looking at the label, but I understand how you feel, never cared for snakes but have seen more in the UK than I have in 8 years in USA.

I have been told to put this around the permrimeter costs approx $14 from Lowes lasts about 3 months.

LOL I told my son about this thread. He lives in Mooresville. The only time he has seen a snake is when they cleared land around the corner from him to build a park. One snake in nine years isn't so bad.
My grandson just found a snake skin and enjoyed taking it to boy scouts to show the troop.
