Hi, my husband and I will be visiting Charlotte next weekend (April 4th weekend). We will be near the airport -dropping off someone at the airport and figured we should hang out and stay the weekend for a last minute weekend vacation (we live in Columbia SC). We need suggestions on where to stay and places to go (we are both 30). What are must sees in Charlotte?

Thanks for the suggestions!!!

Go for it. Stay at the Westin Downtown. Make a reservation for dinner at Bently's on 27th, very romantic, looking over the city from the 27th floor. Downtown has the EpiCenter bars, bowling, dining, movies, etc.

EXCELLENT suggestion I'd definitely vote for staying uptown too. There is so much to walk to, or even just ride the light rail to, that you can easily find plenty to do.

Uptown is a really nice weekend getaway! We stayed at the Westin around Christmas and got a GREAT deal on priceline. Cheaper than you could get a regular hotel most places! We even had a nice view of the skyline. Even the Westin, which is set off the heart of Uptown a bit, is in a safe spot (for a city, always be aware) and walkable to lots of fun stuff day and night.
Maybe Nikko in SouthEnd for sushi, maybe a movie at the Epicentre (they serve beer). Have a great time!

Well we arrived in Charlotte on Saturday, my husband had a terrible sinus infection, but was a trooper! We went to Southpark Mall (which was so much fun). We could not afford anything in the higher end stores but that didn't stop us from window shopping. We stayed in Southpark @ the Doubletree...very nice for $50 a night through Hotwire. I found an eyebrow threader (which I haven't found since my move from Maryland-I live in SC now-this was such a treat for me). We had some great Jamaican food (sorry I don't remember the name). We then went outlet shopping and found a great soul food restaurant named "Down to the Bone". Very good food. We drove through out neighborhoods and was lost for majority of the trip! Good thing we like driving. We didn't do much but was so impress with the diversity and friendliness of everyone. We will visit again when my husband is feeling better. We joked that we should just move to Charlotte!
