I think the main things for me are to find a place where there are enough similar people (young, single); where there is a good mix of ethnic restaurants (Thai, Indian), and where I could go out and have a few drinks without having to worry about driving home.
Well then, I second the suggestion for Birkdale Village in Huntersville
Nothing against the OP or anything but why do alot of people in the Charlotte area refer to themselves as a young professional? I am also 25 but I would never consider myself a young professional(even when I did have a job). What is the difference between a 25 year old young professional and just a 25 year old with a job?
I 4th'd the recommendation for Huntersville. I am not exactly a 25 year old anymore, but do the same things, just in my early 30's. I.E. single, 9-5ish job, like to get out and meet new people. Stick close to 77, between exits 23 and 33, thats Huntersville, Davidson and Cornelious. You willbe 25 minutes from uptown, which as the better bars/club scene, but Huntersville, especially the Birkdale area is great and soon off Exit 28 they wll have a huge retail area (2-3) years out. I would recommend renting first, for $1000 a mo. you will have no problem getting a 2 bed/2bath with garage apt on a 7-9 mo. lease. Don't rent a house, even if they are cheap, too many issues, not enough amenities and you don't get to meet as much people. I.E. pool parties! I know of several nice ones in the area if you want more help let us know.
And when you come down, we can recommend a few places to try out. Great new Thai place opened up there. Also I know 2 great sushi places (One in Davidson, but thats a suprise your new co-workers should introduce you to). Ethnic food is not as great as say SF, NY or CHI, but it's growing.
There is a possible job opportunity in Davidson that I'm looking at. I'm a 25 year old young professional and was looking to get a sense of areas to live.
I don't like commuting (I would like to keep my commute under 25 minutes each way) , but I was looking for some suggestions of places I should look at. I am mainly looking for suggestions for areas where there is a lot to do within walking distance of where I live. I'm not a huge night life person, but some selection of bars and non-chain restaurants would be a big plus.
Should I consider living in downtown Charlotte and driving? Or are there good areas that meet what I'm looking for in Davidson or other adjoining towns?
I worked in Davidson, and personally? I'd live in Davidson over Huntersville anyday...traffic in Huntersville is pretty congested. Not sure where you'd be working there are 2 or 3 big employers there, most live North of Davidson, or in Davidson.

While you may consider yourself a professional I think that title usually requires you have a job?
Anyways, I agree w/ Huntersville.
What about Cornelius? I've really only been to the old downtown area there to go to the antique stores and found it quite adorable, but I noticed people usually don't recommend it on here. Is there a reason?

Yes I know. I said "Even when I did have a job" Alot of other people my age I know do have jobs so would they be considered a professional too even if the job pays 10 dollars an hour?
