We are visiting Charlotte and the Research Triangle. I've asked this same question at TRT forum, but hoping to get responses for Charlotte the Charlotte area.
Part of our plan is to just get in the car and drive around the whole area. As we have a navigator, it would be useful to throw in some street names and just go.
Those of you that live there .... give me some street names! (and tell me which town it's in) Anything goes ... except unsafe areas. Any place that would be neat to hang around, live in, look at or that shows off what the area is like.
Here's the scoop: if you check out Providence, Fairview, Sardis, Hwy 51, Johnston, Rea, Queens, Colony . . . you will find some interesting areas, but most of those roads "change" names, run into other stuff, etc. And we can't put you on 485 to circle the city, as it is not complete. We really need to know what you are wanting to see in order to help you map out some street names.
There is like three Idlewilds too (or it splits into three parts that aren't directly connected)...very confusing
Like being at the corner of Sardis and Sardis. I feel like Cosmo Kramer - "How could the same street intersect with itself? I must be at the nexus of the universe!"
LOL. Okay, I'm trying to keep it broad because this is our first visit and we're doing a broad sweep. We're interested in safe neighborhoods with good schools and a hip vibe (define that as you like, as I know it's vague too LOL) where you don't have to drive endlessly to do things (under 400K for house).
But I see the quandry given the street name problems -- where I live right now, I can say "go to Willard Street (*street name*) in Fishkill (*town name*)" and that would be pretty clearcut.
