So, today was the first day and my child told me there were atleast ten assortments of flowers and plants for the teacher today. We sent nothing.
I am sending 1 present and it will be later in the week. My child wants to get it at dollar tree. Cannot beat that.

Just thought I'd update since I got such great ideas back.

We bought a bracelet for the teacher and one for the teacher's aide. The room parent has organized very special things each day this week to show the teacher how much she is appreciated.

Default South Florida

We do Flowers Monday (bought or picked from garden), school supplies Tuesday, Scholastic Books on Wednesday, and a scrapbook (pages made from each child) on Thursday... nice and all very inexpensive!

How about a nice note to my Dean saying that you appreciate what I've done for you this year, getting you across that stage to receive your diploma when you didn't think you'd be able to complete because of all the angst going on at home and work or getting your child(ren) to the next grade (and cc: a copy to me, please)

Isn't the kid doing a craft for the teacher better than dollar tree?

A dollar dishtowel won't be appreciated as much as a macaroni-something-or-other that the kid makes, really.

Default Middler schoolers

My middle schooler told me this morning that their "student class representative" was collecting cash for a gift for their homeroom teacher. She said the class across the hall had collected enough to buy their homeroom teacher a "Vera Bradley" purse. She took $5 with her.

We still plan to write a nice "thank you" letter to her and copy the principal.

My kid wants to buy a dollar tree gift card, it's her choice. THe teacher buys many trinkets from dollar tree, so it's the same to me. We did shop for something special, however, our funds are limited. Since i'm funding my spouses education endovor through a teacher education program. Anyways, I wanted to share. The kids are sharing the throwing up virus too. Yipeee.

As for MM -I applaud you. I'm not one of those parents though, mine is still in the moldable stage.

KMWay I don't really care for your responses, doesn't hte teacher have 200 macaroni necklaces with primary paint on them. Anyways, the post wasn't intended for you, but this response is.
