We really need to take a hard look at what is coming standard with the base price and go from there..
It's been really helpful to see what others have to say where to spend your money; like on carpeting. With kids and animals , no way am I spending a small fortune there. I'll take what they give and up grade the padding.
Does anyone elese have any helpful hints to add?
All suggestions are appreciated.
Maybe because most of my things are included in the house as standard. such as double sinks fireplace etc. 50k is a lot. are you doing door knobs and blinds and stuff like that?

I mostly did structural and upgraded the kitchen.

We have bought in Berewick and There is plenty on the KB amenities list for spec level 4.
We have decided to major up grade kitchen (granite,42"cabinets,dbl oven etc) and hardwood entire bottom floor except the den which will be a guest bedroom.
We will also be doing tile in all three baths.
Stuff like knobs, switches, celing fans, blinds, we will be doing on our own.
My hope is that we have totally over estimated and that would be awesome.

Be careful and don't upgrade more than the norm for your sub-division, you may suffer on a resale.

Im a first time homebuyer and am seriously considering KB Homes.... But I was just wondering, If you dont mind sharing, how much did the upgrades add to the "base" price of your home? Do you think you did an average amt of upgrades? (I plan to do alot of upgrades also). You can PM me if you'd rather.

Do you know if they let you walk around the showroom before you have signed a contract?

Thanks
I walked around checked things out first....I dont mind sharing anything..all would be helpful....I spent 10% ontop of my price of the home...If you take a step back once you finished selecting and imagine what the house will look like, it will make sense.
