We are a young couple moving to Charlotte from Vermont to begin our careers. At this point, we probably are only considering renting an apartment or condo. We cant wait to live in the south and in the city, but really know very little about it in general. What parts of town would be conducive to young professionals? We need to be fairly close to downtown, but also a place that potentially has good schools and good places to eat! We are looking for a community that is full of professionals, and not just students. I know that there are many apartment communities around Charlotte, but we are looking for some kind of direction, as we really do not know anyone down there. I know that this is a lot of criteria, but does anyone have any suggestions?! Thanks!

see, that's the thing, not too many professionals rent, and best schools have a tendency to have expensive houses around and not much for rent. Univercity area has some complexes populated with IT people from, like, India, I guess they rent because they are here temporarily, they are not cheap, either.

I live off Monroe road and pay around 750/month that includes cable and my washer dryer, real nice place too. Only takes me 20 minutes to get downtown.
