Can someone tell me if there was a method to the CMS layoffs that took place prior to this school year? In my district they got rid of new hires and retirees who had come back to work. Did it work this way in CMS also or was there no method to the madness? I'm asking because I may have to relocate to Charlotte and I am in the school system. I don't want to get a job only to get thrown out on my behind a year later.

One other question: Are CMS employees allowed to enroll their children in any school, just the cluster in which they work or do employees not have this privilege?

Thanks!

There really wasn't a method but if you noticed, the "double-dippers" were getting weeded out, new hires (as in that year) and also those teachers that are on an action plan. But what really confuses me and my wife is that they went ahead and hired new teachers after laying the new ones off 10 months prior.

I don't know about you second question though. I do know that if you work at say east meck...then your son/daughter can go to the school regardless of where you live.

My wife is a teacher at myers park.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I don't think getting a teaching job is going to be very easy anymore. Its hard because now your getting more and more teachers that are nationaly board certified.

I think they started at the wrong end, IMO, in terms of layoffs. An old Russian proverb goes, "The fish rots from the head".

Thank you, Foxworth.

Lumbollo, I completely agree but it always happens that way.
