Can anyone tell me what we need to be worried about for our dogs?
Besides ticks which aren't common in CA or heartworm, is there anything else we need to be concerned with for our two Boxers? (one is Ultra sensitive)
Any suggestions for a good Vet that doesn't charge an arm and a leg would be appreciated as well.
Thanks

Ticks aren't that big of a deal. Check your dogs when you come inside. Also, if you care about your pets then PLEASE keep your dog on a leash. Thanks.

Maybe allergies.
My vet is the Atrium Animal Hospital. Wonderful place. I have been taking my dog since the place opened in the mid-late 90's. The people that work there are great. They all know my dog by name & she loves them. They are into Alternative/Integrative Therapies as well (like Acupuncture, etc). But it is a great place & they really care about the animals they look after.

Also, to add, there are required rabies shots. Once place I lived had racoons that would come out during the night and bite the cats and dogs. They had some rabies outbreaks.

Good Luck.

I actually DO think ticks are a big deal. NC has a big problem with ticks on animals and people--CDC rates show that.
Sure, check them when they come in and if they have one it is a bit** to take out a tick!!
Get a good flea and tick protectant, period.

I heard the same thing here. They use alternative methods, organic things, and interesting therapies. I am going to take my cat there eventually

I highly recommend the place. The treat you like you are their only patient. Its gotten busier in recent years but that is to be expected.

No problem; I'm sure there are leash laws in NC just like Ca.
Do people pick up after their dogs like we do here in CA? THAT bugs me more than no leash.
PS I will be fencing in my property not only to keep my dogs where the belong, but to keep all the others out

Great! Thanks for the heads up on allergies. We already should own stock in benadryl! I had a feeling my sensitive one might have issues......
