The first part of that is Charlotte. However, Charlotte is mostly a city of youg professionals with the banking industry here.

Huntersville is a bit odd because if you just look at the actual "downtown" - it's tiny - just a few restuarants, town hall, gas station. But the town is spread out and has other gathering centers, including an outdoor mall / restaurant area called Birkdale Village that is similar to Mashpee Commons.

You might like the Vermillion subdivision, which has a built-in village feel.
