My husband, 5yr old son & I are planning on moving to Charlotte. Our income level is $60K to $80K. Just looking for a nice area w/ good schools, private schools are ok. Parks, established neighborhoods w/in 30 min driving distance to a mall (for me). The area can be rural (for him). Are there any good websites to check out the area. Any suggestions? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
scout

Scout8847,
I am also in the Nashville area (Murfreesboro) and am possibly moving to Charlotte. If you look at my thread (mvnagn, titled: north charlotte area) many people have given me a lot of good info. I hope this helps you some.

As far as the rural aspect, there are areas of Lincoln County with good schools that would work for you. In Cleveland county, you can find rural in the unincorporated portions of Kings Mountain. The children from the unincorporated area still go to the Kings Mountain schools which are good.

There are other areas that would work for you, as well, but people who live there can tell you.

In Lincoln County & Kings Mountain, the closest mall is in Gastonia. Westfield Eastridge Mall is well under your mileage request.

Westfield - Eastridge Shopping Mall

There is also a shopping area that is several blocks long with a lot of national chain stores, like Kohls, Lowes, & Home Depot.

You can check schools as people mention locations here. GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community
