Hello everyone! I just wanted to post that I went out to the Speed Street celebration today for my lunch while at work. I stood in line for like 30 mins of course, and thats to be expected. I ordered a steak and cheese hoagie and fries. IT WAS HORRIBLE! hahaha... I mean it was just plain terrible. And to beat it all... it was $16!!!! I had stood in line so long, and then handed the lady a 20 dollar bill... got back $4. I said are you serious??!! I mean, I know, I should have checked prices first and all. But WOW... Food at the county fair and festivals are always over priced, but really, $16 for a steak hoagie and fries? No drink included... EAT BEFORE YOU GO... LOL.... Okay, rant over
Thats almost as bad as paying 50 bucks for a dozen cupcakes lol
I noticed the same thing last year at the Matthews Art Festival. When did festival food get so expensive? Hopefully, the cheesesteak had Cheez Whiz?
A few months ago I researched cheesesteak sandwiches because I wanted to learn how to make them myself. I was surprised to find that Cheese Whiz is actually the authentic "cheese" for a Philliy cheesteak. I don't like it so I use provolone. I also add mushrooms and don't use green peppers. So I'm far from authentic in my recipe.

No doubt. At the Cleveland County fair I had the best ham biscuit ever made, and the worst brisket ever. And as always, a delectable elephant ear.

I do not doubt it about the biscuits and ham. You got all them country grandmas and grandpas cookin like crazy at the cleveland county fair! But the brisket is a surprise. You do always take a chance with taste at these festivals and fairs!
I guess "overpriced" depends on your point of view. I go to a sporting event at the arena and see people gladly plopping down $7 or $8 for some near-beer like Bud Light or Michelob Ultra.

I wasn't even hungry when I smelled the brisket. It smelled great, looked great, but I think the meat had been sold and they were down to the gristle and fat by the time I got mine.

True. Same for Panthers games. But ya gotta have a cold beer at a ball game. It's a rule, I read it somewhere.
Have a little self control. I try very hard (and usually succeed) to not waste money buying expensive crappy food. Wait until 10 pm, 2 for 1 at Brixx Pizza!!
I agree with VMAXNC. I would imagine that vendors feeding the public would have to have some kind of inspection/license. But let's say they don't. Not regulated at all. Does this mean you have NEVER eaten food at a festival or county fair? LOL.
nope. Too expensive.
