Hello! I am trying to find a place to rent within walking distance of the downtown mall. I am a female in my mid-twenties and will be working from home/coffee shops so I want to be near the action. Are there any areas I should avoid? I looked at a few apartments yesterday and none of them really impressed me. I know it's the off season, so finding a rental to start Feb 1 might be hard. The max amount I want to spend is $900 for a one bedroom.

Does anyone have any experience with the Lofts at McIntire? An agent called me after I was an hour out of town to say they had a large studio for $820.

I've been looking mostly on craigslist - any other resources I should use? I was thinking of driving back up Friday and hitting up the local laundry mats to see if there were any fliers.

Thanks!

Wanted to let you know that I found an apartment in a house on Ridge Street, a few blocks from the downtown mall. I move to Charlottesville next Friday and I'm looking forward to exploring the area. Cheers!
