For the newbies on board here, the World's Longest Yard Sale begins officially on August 5th and lasts for 4-5- days along Hwy 127.
It has already landed in some parts on the outskirts of Dunlap headed towards Pikeville. I have seen about 12 vendors already set up and selling under their tents for the past week and several in the town of Dunlap already. I suspect more will be setting up this weekend. These are the early birds who get a jump start on selling their wares.
There's a lot of places roped off that say that spot is reserved, however, there are loads of places that still will need to be filled if anyone has the notion.
There will be plenty of places to eat along the roads and porta pottys but it would be a plus for you to keep a cooler of drinks and bottled water in your own vehicle.
We have a tack shop and flooring store along the Hwy 127 route in the center of Dunlap but this year instead of closing down and heading for the hills, we're going to brave it out and keep our doors open until I can't stand the heat anymore so come by and say hello. I've got some china, glassware and things I'd love to get out of storage and sell, but I'm leaving the horses at home in the barn! I guess I'll be stuck in the thick of it.
Good luck everyone and bring a truck and enjoy.

For what it's worth, that weekend coincides with the TN Sales Tax Holiday. The yard salers are going to take a hit because lots of people spend all their spare money that weekend stocking up on tax-free school supplies, clothes, and computers.

If anyone finds one of those hula-girl lamps with a clock in her belly button, let me know. Been wanting one of those for years.
