Hi Everyone!

After asking many questions on these forums and doing months of research and homework on the area, I was finally able to get down there last week from Upstate NY aka Antartica . I just wanted to give you all an overwhelming THANK YOU for your insights on here. Chattanooga was everything you folks said and then some. Everyone was so nice and welcoming, the area is absolutely beautiful and I didn't once feel like an outsider. Everyone I talked to was eager to help me find my way around and give me info on the different areas I visited. From telling me which high schools to keep my son away from, to where to find the best sushi (Totto on North Shore was the winner in my book btw), I have never felt more welcomed anywhere I've ever visited.

I am definitely looking forward to my move there this summer and can't wait to call Chattanooga home.

Brainerd, Tyner, Howard, and Hixson were the ones that everyone overwhelmingly warned me to stay away from. I can understand Brainerd, Tyner, and Howard after touring those areas...Hixson kind of suprised me, because the Hixson area seems very nice. Ooltewah, Signal Mountain, East Hamilton came highly recommended, but coincidentally, they are also the pricier areas to live in. Red Bank got mixed reviews, but no one said anything bad about it...that is likely the area that I will settle in. Lookout Valley also seems like a nice school. If you go on Hamilton County Schools website, there are maps showing what high school covers what area to give you a better idea. Several are middle school/high schools combined, so to see those you will have to click the "combo" school box, versus just the "high school" box. You can also view the links to each school's website to find out about dress code and uniforms as each school has different dress codes and colors that can be worn.

I think Red Bank is a fantastic choice. I love the older homes that are selling at bottom dollar and wow, what a house you will have after renovations over the years. Those are well built homes. But, I am more of a traditional type home lover, so it's my opinion. Also, how convientent Red Bank is, 15 minutes from downtown, you have your entire summer free entertainment right down the road !

Good luck! And enjoy this town!
