We are visiting Chattanooga from the Tri-Cities area next weekend with our two boys, 2.5 and 7.5. We are mainly coming to see Thomas the Tank Engine who is in town. However, we would like to do a few more fun family things while there. We know about the aquarium...we visited when our oldest was 1 and loved it.

What is Lookout Mountain like? Is it fun? Which is better....Lookout Mountain or the Aquarium? Any other good ideas?

Thanks for any and all advice!

Lookout Mountain really nothing for a child to enjoy. Ride the Incline Railway up and walk around for a bit. There is a Discovery Museum which has some hands-on things for kids to do, not far from the aquarium. Maybe take a Duck ride on the river. [url="http://www.chattanoogaducks.com]/URL]

Now you have me there. I was just focused on Lookout Mtn., Point Park. Rock City is an excellent choice for kids.

If you are here on Sunday you could take them over to the Chattanooga Market... The Chattanooga Market - Part 2 Plenty of free family fun. There is face painting & kid activity areas(tons of legos & dominos) They have a climbing nice new wall. Children get one climb free. It looks really fun!

You've GOT to go to Coolidge Park. It's warm now, actually HOT so the kids will love the outdoor water fountain. The carousel too Bring along a soccer ball and some towels, pack a picnic lunch or stop by one of the restaurants on that side of the river. Enjoy!

hop on the electric bus (multiple stops throughout downtown). It's free and affords you a great mini tour of the downtown. Some of the bus drivers will provide a narrative. Kids love riding the bus, and you can take it over to the Northshore where Coolidge Park is. Check out Renaissance Park too with it's sliding hill - kids love sliding down on broken down cardboard boxes. From there it's a short walk to 2 Northshore where you can have a good lunch at Greenlife and peruse the shops. The toy store across the way should captivate the kids, and if either of you are into adventure check out Rock/Creek for all the latest outdoor gear.

Have fun and don't hesitate to ask people for directions and ideas - most are friendly.
