My wife and I are moving to Cleveland where she will be working at Target on Frontage Rd. N.W. from Florida where we have lost everything including our transportation because I can not find steady work here since 2007 ,and Florida is no longer a cheap place to live for what they want to pay you around here if you can find a job.

Cleveland ,Ten. seems pretty economical for what we have left in our lives which is her job at Target and about a van load of stuff to take with us for a new start. What I'm looking for is some safe affordable rent to pay close to Target where she can get to work while I also can try to find some kind of work to move ourselves forward.

Any info about the area ,housing ,jobs and public transportation will be greatly appreciated because we really need to make this work and it is our only hope for survival.

Gavino,
Sorry to hear of your situation. I am a lifelong resident of Cleveland and perhaps I can help you. Before moving, I strongly suggest you visit the area to see what you think, that goes for anywhere you may move to not just Cleveland. I agree Cleveland is probably cheaper than most areas of Florida. But you do have to consider all the costs when you move to a new area.

The Target your wife will be working at is next to I-75 on the north end of town. There are numerous apartment options within a mile or two. Rent on the north end is usually higher than the south side however. There is a local transit system using large vans that run on a regular schedule and they do pick up and drop off near your Target, so that would help.

If you are looking for a job, things are pretty bleak right now. It seems like no one is hiring. Volkswagen is building a new assembly plant 15 miles away, but 50,000 people have applied for their 2,000 jobs. There are expected to be several thousand more jobs at supplier companies for VW, but those jobs are not here yet and may not be as numerous as expected. Wachie Chemie will also be building a new plant with about 500 jobs, but they have not even broke ground yet.
I hope this helps some and good luck.
