Markham gives the appearence of being relatively clean. The truth is that if you're used to Chicago Heights like I am, you prabobly will feel comfortable enough on major roads in Markham too. I am not talking abot Markham as a place to live or even hang out - but I've gotten gas at the Markham Citgo and gotten a bite to eat at the fried fish joint neary more than a few times. My exerience with Markham is limited but this is my perception based on my experences.

Also, you're white collar? I thought you were a contracter..? You have several posts referencing hardware stores all over Chicagoland. You don't necessarilly have to be "white collar" to make good money.
Yeah a blue collar person in the area can make a ton of money. No arguments with that at all.

I never was a contractor so I am not sure what posts your referencing but to say the least i am curious.

Not sure.
But yeah I have done office type work for years and I am in my mid 40s

Yeah we all know about the tax hike and there is simply no reason to keep bringing it up over and over again.

States across the nation are falling into deficits.
Lets see what song you are singing in a year from now.

I know for a fact there are people in Indiana who are not happy with the way MD has handled things.
I know for a fact to that Indiana has made steep cuts in areas that have not made people happy.

You can count on one thing I will never condemn an individual or a group of a state for their political leadership as that is not right or fair.

Suggestion this conversation belongs in the political form and not in the forum we are communicating in right now.

It is way off topic
BTW you said you lived here but in your posts i dont get the feeling you know the area very well.

Lol i feel like such a river rat reading this thread! I grew up all along the east coast including ridgewood nj before moving to rural southeastern indiana for 10 years. Then went to iu in bloomington indiana before getting stuck between there and indianapolis looking for steady employment. I finally found a 9-5 in mundelein il about a year ago and live in libertyville. I cant stand the isolation/snotty pointy nosed baby boomers out here and am moving to schiller park this week and will commute on the ncs metra line. I see the metra as a godsend and believe it should be expanded south for il and in. Anyway what i wanted to comment on were these perceptions of other areas. Indiana doesnt want to claim nwi just like chi doesnt. Downtown chi looks down upon the burbs. Everyone is better than everyone else. Its retarded. Grow up, its pathetic. And to the person claiming the only reason to live in indiana is to work in indianapolis .... Woooooow

Interesting comments-
Its a two way street- People in NWI also tend to look down on parts of the sburbs.
Not anyone in particular on this board but some in general.
I know because I live down here and I also frequent NWI.

Metra covers the south suburbs and the sw burbs

I can see your point with some chicago people looking down on the burbs and the indiana suburbs but that is probably a small group.
Yes they need to grow up a bit.
But keep in mind people in NWI dont exactly look at the south burbs as friendly territory.
They too can snub the nose up at times. (not always)
I also go to a great Dr. in Indiana in Munster.

No I would not tend to live in NWI. The state is way to conservative for my liking.
However I hold nothing against NWI or its people as most of the folks I have met are genuine and friendly people.
In addition I do think Munster is a great village (town)
I do not mind parts of Hammond either alot of nicer old historic homes in areas.
