I saw some very helpful posts on here so I thought I'd give it a shot. I was laid off on January 29, 2010 after 15 years with the same company. I filed my first ever unemployment claim and started collecting around the 2nd week in February. I just received a notice in the mail today that I have exhausted my regular benefits and that I'll be notified if I am determined eligible for more benefits. I also only received a check for 1/2 the amt that I was getting (am assuming this means it equals one week of benefits). I am so confused by all of the lingo, tiers, EUB, etc. I cannot get through to anyone on the phone and I don't know if this means that I am literally not going to receive any more benefits. I have heard of people who have been on UI for years and I can't understand how I'd be cut off this soon. Am I supposed to go to the office? The notice said to keep certifying every two weeks. If anyone could help me, I would be eternally grateful. Thank you very much!!!

No one knows your exact situation better than you.
Go down to the office and get it straightened out, or find out why the amount changed. Don't be confrontational, try to get there early in the morning, and take copious notes, including names.

Good luck, and I hope you find work again soon.

You might try posting in the Unemployment forum which is a sub-forum of Work and Employment category. There are lots of knowledgeable people there that may know the answer to your question.
